When exams are over and there is too much time to spare, the cook in me is manifested. So in a week, I made 3 types of food for my friends. That week i felt alot like santa claus, giving out food during lectures. And the feeling of pple appreciating ur food and saying that the food tasted awesome is great.

Carrot cake in the progress of steaming. I bought a GI-GORMOUS radish for $2.50. Imagine the length from ur knee to the feet. No kidding.

One batch of the carrot cake can make 3 batches. Can keep and feed more pple. lol

Then there was the frying.

Moon cake making with a bunch of girls. This time we made snowskin ones which had red bean paste with chopped roasted peanuts. Forgot to take photos of the snowskin ones. These are the baked ones with the same filling. We had to wait for at least 3 days for 'the oil to come out' so that it will taste nicer and more fragrant. Pretty right? and it's the healthier version with less oil.

While making mooncakes, of course we had to fill our tummys. So jieyu our master chek made SATAY! Everything was from scratch: the marinade and the peanut sauce. No added pre-made paste whatsoever.

It was really good. Awesome yeah. And that's how we thot of adding peanut to the red bean paste, cos of the peanut in the sauce.

Then i went to my sis place on sun and made curry puff. Since jieyu does things from scratch, as her tu di i must do the same. So the dough wasnt bought from the supermkt. It was flour and butter. Neither was the filling made rom curry paste. It was from all kinds of spices.

There was low QC though. It came in all sorts of sizes.
And my 10 days of holidays have started!!!! yeah!
Flying off to tasmania on tue! Excited! Although the weather there is 5-18 degrees, almost like winter again. And it might rain too. ):

Today wednesday, 23 sept 2009, the pple in sydney woke up to a red sky, which persisted all the way till 9am. Everyone thot it was the coming of an apocalypse.
I woke up to a orange glow streaming through my window. I just thot that there was going to be some thunderstorm approaching. But when i looked out from the balcony, EVERYTHING was orange so much so that it looked scary.
And then we left the house for school, it was cold, the wind was blowing really strongly, visibility was poor (only can see half the racecourse), dust and sand was flying everywhere such that by the time i reached sch, my eyes was itchy and tearing abit. And believe me, at that point in time, the sun was not yellow or orange. It was BLUE!
And pple who didnt close their windows went home to a table/room full of orange and red dust. Cars that were left parked outdoors were covered in mud/ orange dust. The poor pple who washed their car the days before.
The reason was that there was some sand storm from south australia and the strong winds blew it here. Just hope that it doesnt happen again.

What i see from my balcony at 8am.

Mentioned in the last post that I would blog about my 3 days of fun-filled days post exam.
N.B. photo credits go to beat where i swipe all these pics from fb. Helping her to show off her cool photography skills with her new slr :D
Day 1: Friday 11 sept
- 3 hour coogee-bronte-bondi beach walk
- bbq lunch at maroubra beach (so in a day we visited 5 beaches)
-spntaenous k session in the city
- bible study at night
-post bible study at merril's place, playing cranium and eating sweet potato soup + tang yuan.
= 17 hours of non stop play

The start of our walk at 930am at coogee

It will be so cool to live by the beach, waking up to the sounds of waves. But everything comes with a price eh

Somewhere between coogee and bronte

SLR cameras really make pictures look sooooo much nicer

Swimming pool that is not filled with chlorinated water but sea water.

See the cemetry on the left.

surfer dudes

yeah at bondi! finished the walk in abt 2 hrs plus on a beautiful day (:

then onto our lunch which was a simple bbq of sausage, bread and chicken. aussie style. gotta mention that the bbq pit is not like the chracoal kind. Its like a heating pan, have to press every 15 mins.

Oi and i just had to sing k after every exam to denote a closure. lol we are hilarious.
There werent any photos for the later part of the night when we were playing at merril's place. We were busy eating anw haha. And by that time i was alr zonked out and was barely awake.
Day 2: saturday
- visiting flea markets for the first time at glebe market
- exploring uni syd which we called hogwarts cos it really looked like it
- exploring newtown and findng the famous campos coffee

The weather that time was madness. Think it went up to 30 degrees. Almost melting while outdoors in the market

at the entrance

quirky things can be found there.Like ornaments made out of spoons. cute ya

we visited a cafe for beat to have a caffeine shot to perk her up.

usyd looks like hogwarts right!

looks alot like those pretty uk uni. unlike unsw which is so small, cluttered and looks so modernized.

And then we stumbled upon a wedding reception while we were at usyd. See it's so nice that pple hold their weddings here.
Then we headed to newtown to have lunch and shop ard. The place is also like a quirky suburb with quirky ppl.

Had coffee for tea (:

white flat coffee. shiok

Day 3: sunday
-yanni's 21st birthday party at centennial park. Her theme was 1950s.
[and it just had to be that all my retro look alike clothes are in sg]

the theme was moustache on a stick so she prepared heaps of it

the food! omg it was awesome. our fren, tran made all the food for 3 days sia!

with the birthday girl in the middle!

the unit 4 guys (not including zhang) were hilarious. they all combed back their hair and wore suits/formal

our mulwaree family(:
And that's the end of my crazy playing after the exams. Was so tired at the end of the weekend cos i was sleeping for less than 6 hours each night, considering that i was always out the whole day and that i havent recovered from the lack of slp during the studying period.
Anyhows, now is the 2nd wk after the exams and in a few days time my 10 days of hols will be here! The tasmania holiday that i helped plan will be coming soon! yeah!

Something interesting and cute happened in uni today. The lecturers and professors went on strike. So the 2 lectures that were scheduled for this morning was held yesterday at 5pm and another will be held next w at 5pm. And 5pm is considered really late for aussies alr. And i still remembered ending at 6pm in nus last time was considered the norm.
And the reason for the strike? They wanted better working conditions (how bad can it be compared to sg?), higher pay, and better work stability. Apparently this stirke was organised beforehand and occurs simultaneously in 16 other unis. Pretty cool if u think about it. Still the anatomy pracs carried on as usual cos the tutors scheduled for today were student tutors. There werent actual lecturer-tutors around.
Imagine a strike occuring in singapore. Ok forget it, no need to imagine. There werent be such things happening there. Even if there is, the people will all be rounded up. ha

Health maintence cycle B was about......
- biochemistry (a pain in the ass, having to memorise the HUGE flow chart and the processes were somehow interlinked)
- everything about the liver
- alcohol (heaps of public health stuff on that)
- kidney physio (that was a pain too)
- and any other random stuff like abomen anat that they could fit into the course
And that was officially over on 10 sept 2009, thurs. The 6th time sitting for this kinda end of course exam and the 6th time taking the exam at the race course. No idea why but i had a number of brain blocks during the 2.5 hours and i couldnt rem some things during the instant that i was writing/ choosing the ans. It's over, i just hope that i will do fine for it.
As usual, after working hard, there must be the playng hard part. It is going to be a 4 day non stop of fun.
On thur after the exam, beat oi christie jieyu and i went to the city to yum cha. We felt really like a tai tai. At 2 pm we were still sitting there drinking tea and chatting about stuff. After that was shopping time. And the thing that oi and i wont forget that day was that we got pang seh by the first years when they impromptu said that we should sing k together. And when both of us reached the place, they called and say they didnt want to sing anymore. -_- gg. So they are now blacklisted.
then we returned back to our gfs to continue shopping ard. We were tired mentally and physically but we didnt want to go back After all, staying in our place for the past couple of days to study was more than enough. Then there was korean food for dinner (no idea why but we always seem to end up eating korean after exams).
None of us brought our cameras out so there isnt any pictures for that day.
More about my other days' activities another time, with pictures (:

Technology has made me so dependent on the internet. I feel weird, lost, and feel a sense of disconnection to the world when i have no access to the internet from my room.
Our house has been having some internet connection hiccups since sunday night. When jieyu thought that the modem was spoilt, we almost wanted to buy a new one but luckily got another one from the guys. And then she tested it all night, calling the phone provider and the internet provider (which are different) to see if it was sth wrong on their part. Still, the internet provider cant find what is the problem and they said that they will be sending a engineer down soon (which means a very long time considering the efficiency of the people here). And if the problem has to do with us, we will be charged 100-150 bucks!!!! omg. this sucks.
So from sunday night i was camping at the guy's place to use their internet until 1am to do my horrendous grp proj and the past 2 nights i have been leeching off christe's internet by spending an hour at her place to do impt and other random stuff before going back to my hole to hibernate and study. Lucky for frens who stay nearby.
this increases my sian level even higher.
