I have been back for 1.5 wks alr and i dont really have the engine to start studying. The long break has probably degenerated quite a number of brain cells.

So the first week was really boring. The lectures were those public health lectures which was boring. The actual sciency stuff wasnt out till the 2nd week. So i was feeling really bored and bascially watching quite a number of dramas that tancy gave me.

2nd week became a little bit more intense with respiratory anat lectures and other immunology lecs. For this course, i wanted to do the dreaded communication assignment. Let me explain a little about this assgnm. Bascially i have to interview someone around the theme of this course, which includes HIV, TB, flu, respiratory, and get them to talk about the issue related to them and their emotions for 10-20 mins. It has to be recorded and a report handed in. So the marker listens to it and deems whether u are an effective communicator or not.

I had wanted to find someone from the hosp ward but there were so many issues i had to consider: open wards have no privacy, resp patients cant really talk much, difficulty in finding a HIV patient and getting them to confide their emotions to me. But anw i trudged down to the hosp near the uni and randomly found a patient to talk to. It all went rather well until her frens came to visit her and interuppted the recording. And the more irritating part was that it was nearing the 10th min, which means that i could have finished the recording soon. argh. And after walking up and down the hosp for 2 hours and gg to other wards such as oncology in the hopes of finding a lung cancer patient (she was sleeping) and outpatient resp med clinics, i went home really disappointed. So i thot i had to go to another hosp in the city (which is also one of out teaching hosp) to find HIV patients cos that hosp specialise in HIV treatment.

And then it occured to me. I had a new housemate who was a doctor in Burma and is now studying public health in uni. wahahha. I could interview her and let her talk about the medical care of TB in burma! awesome!!!!

And so i just finished the 16 mins recording. I think it should be ok. She talked really alot and i dodnt have to ask too many questions too. So now it's a load off my mind, i can continue studying and i can start on writing up the report.

I realise that im such a kan chiong spider from this assignment. i need to settle things fast, otherwise it will always be on my mind.
