The long awaited holidays are here!! And i will be really really busy. The busy schedules starts tmr all the way till the following mon, with only thurs as the only day for a 'break'. What i really mean is that mon-wed i will be going on a road trip with 7 others up north -- port stephens, hunter valley, newcastle. And then from fri -mon, it will be a rural camp!Thrown into some farm like place and experience the life there.

In the mean time, it was beach fun and char siew pau-making on sat. Beach time is the signal that it's spring time. Love it (:

My new assignment for this course that i have chosen is rather interesting. Im supposed to interview a person having a degenerative disease (ie. stroke, alzheimer's, parkinson, etc.), ask the person abt his feelings etc and then compare it to litereature. And literature means story book like biography or personal accounts. So im forced to read a story book after so long since touching one.

So anyhow, i went to the hospital today and just randomly picked those pple in the rehab ward (almost all of them had stroke) who looked really bored, and were just basically stoning. Talked to an old guy who basically hates how the govt handles the administration pertaining to health care. It was quite hard to listen to him, with all his slang.

Wasnt happy with what i got, so i randomly chose another patient. This time, the lady spoke really clearly. The thing is, i interviewed her until she CRIED. Well, it is inevitable,considering that they have to make so many life changes and that things will not go back the way it will be, esp since she has to go to a nursing home to recuperate.

Got her to calm down, and tried to change the topic a little. And then slowly went back to asking her the qns that i needed answers to. Kinda cruel ya, that i wanted to calm her down so that i could continue interviewing her. But it was no point letting her continue crying. At least they had someone (me) to talk to in the boring hospital, as they waited for time to crawl by.

Im thinking that there might be a possibility that one day, i might be on the other side of the table, rambling on about my life story to a young budding medical student who is full of vigour because im really bored to my end wits. Who knows.

I'm a happy girl because:

1. The big major issue that alot of pple are asking me about has been resolved. (: Happiness! woo hoo! And the outcome is pretty good although it was a stupid thing on my part.
2. I talked to my one and only twin, yingqi, on the phone for almost 2 hrs. There is definitely telepathy between us. I alr wanted to call to chat with her today and when i opened my laptop in the afternoon, i got an email from her. Ha. How cool is that! (although i kinda forgot that i was boiling barley on the stove and the pot got burnt after i totally ignored it for an hour)
3. There are HK dramas to keep me company.
4. I love my sisters for giving me so much support and encouragement (:
5. I love God for being there for me, always.
6. Mid-sem break is coming in 3 days time. And i can get to play again.

Today is probably the worst day since i came here.

Problems with the housing office
Problems with academics issues (and im not referring to studying)
Problems with interviewing old pple for another assignment
Being called a piece of shit by one of the old pple at the nursing home
Turning into dead ends as i was walking to school

Everything just doesnt go my way when there is one huge major issue weighing inside me.
Im really down in my luck.

Been wanting to blog about what i have been doing the past few days but because the internet limit of 40Gb had exceeded, i had to wait until today for the new cycle of the internet so that i can start surfing the net. It's really horrible to have a tortoise speed internet. But luckily i could still chat with pple on msn, otherwise i would have been bored to death.

Ok, let's start from friday. After sleeping for 9 hours, it was a trip down to the city to have hardcore karaoke singing! woohoo!! this is probably the best deal around: 10 bucks for 6 hours of singing. No food and drinks though but we could bring in those ourselves. muaha. This great offer was courtesy of zhang cos he seemed to noe the pple there since he goes there every so often. There were 9 of us with 3 mics. Tried to make those really shy pple to choose songs so that they could sing and not waste their money and time there. But after a while, it got a little tiring and i stopped asking them to pick their songs alr.

It was really fun to sing all the duets with oi. The 2 of us got really excited when we found 期待爱 by jj cos we couldnt find that song the last time we went to sing k in aust and spore. And cos it was also our first time singing 'I still believe' which turned out really cui, we said that we would practise more from youtube when we start doing our assingment together and get really bored.

And then the night was spent listening to a missionary who was preparing to go to germany with his wife and 4 kids to help the church there. This was in place of every fri's bible study. I actually kinda liked bible study this term cos it's on genesis and it's really really interesting. There are some perspectives that i have learnt which i never knew before. But i doubt we will be able to finish the whole book, considering that we have only covered 7 chapters out of 50 and we are left with about 8 weeks to the end of sch term.

Sat was just as fun. It was MOONCAKE MAKING!!! Unbelievable right. But 7 gals gathered at beat's hse to make mooncake. There wasnt lotus paste to begin with, so we used red bean paste which we bought on thurs. Neither did we buy salted egg, so we just added sunflower seeds to the paste to give it more texture. Made 2 kinds of mooncake: the traditional baked kinds and the snow skin ones. Well, the baked ones kinda look and taste like tau sa pia cos the crust was kinda hard. Distributed the mooncakes to a whole bunch of pple and most of them said that the snow skin was nicer. They were probably too paiseh to say that the baked ones didnt taste as nice but since it was home made and they couldnt really eat it like they did back home, they could only say it was delicious and we did a good job. haha.

Adeline also made TAU HUAY and ANG KU KUEH and brought them to beat's hse when she came over to make mooncake. Seriously, i think it is only when pple live overseas that we learn how to make all these food that can be easily and cheaply bought from markets/hawkers. 5 more years in aust. im sure i will learn how to make alot of these kinda of food. hee.

And i finally watched sex and the city after a gazillion years. christie had the movie copied into the disc and we watched it at beat's hse after making mooncake. (:

So sat was a happy day for me.

And sun was just as crazy and fun.

Wanted to have either a beach outing with beat and oi or to cook chicken rice. But since it was raining, the outing got cancelled at 1030. And at 1115, the sun was so nice and bright, we decided to head to the beach after lunch. Then checked with khoon and clarence if they wanted to go to the beach since they have talking about wanting to go swim in aussie waters. (But actually the main point was that they had a car and we wanted to try our luck to see if they were going so that we didnt have to take a bus). So the 5 of us headed to bondi, intending to have an afternoon of sun, sea and sand.

And when we stepped onto the sand for 10 mins walking and admiring the pretty kites (it was supposed to be kite festival there and there were like huge and cute jellyfish, shark, octopus kites flying around), dark clouds approached and then it poured. Tried to seek shelter but really, the pavements at the shops have limited shelter. And since we were really cold, we went to drink coffee and waited until the clouds dispersed. Then we walked along the shore and stopped at a spot while the guys went to swim. Gosh, the water was super cold, probably at a temp of below 10 degrees or sth cos my feet felt frozen after a while.

Then we headed back to the car, cos the parking time was only 2 hrs. And really, it's not funny to try and cheat the system here cos they are really on abt parking hours and the fines can be at least 80-100 bucks. And just as we are abt to leave, the big bright scorching sun decided to come out from behind the clouds.

Since we didnt want to waste our last day of play before we start sch tmr, khoon clarence and 1 decided to head to a 2nd beach, coogee beach, the one what is nearer to our place after dropping beat and oi in sch for them to go to church. When we reached there, the sun wasnt as hot as before and it started to hide behind the clouds. This time, they didnt go swim but we just walked along the sand, found a spot to sit and chatted. After less than an hour, it started to rain again. But it was just as well since the parking time was almost up, the sun was setting and we were about to go home anyway. But with all our unforutnate encounter with the weather today, we were really quite unlucky. The boys even said that this month they cannot buy lotto, since luck is not on their side this month. lol.

Will upload photos here for the benefit of those who dont use facebook after i get them from beat and the rest on all the activities i have done. There had been alot of cam-whoring (as usual!) the past couple of days (:

yepp..sadly, that's the end of my 3 days of fun. It's the start of the new course again. SIANS.

Health Maintance A was over as of 1240pm today. woo hoo! happiness!! The down side of it is that we only have 3 short days to play before the cycle repeats itself and the new course starts on mon. That is like the most sian thing. The last time it was 3 weeks break, this time it is 3 days. Man.. it is pathetic.

So anyway, the cardiovascular system was pretty fun to learn. Started off with the anatomy of the heart, peripheral vascular system and the PNS, then it was in depth physio stuff. Pathology was pretty fun with all the heart diseases, MI, athrosclerosis, vavular diseases. The more headache ones were CVS drugs. They were a horror for memorising (and in the end the paper came out only 1 pathetic mcq qns). So was antibiotics with all the mechanisms and resistances.

But clinicals was much more interesting. Learnt how to take BP, feeling the apex beat (it's really not funny to feel a female's one cos it's right under the boobs, much easier to feel a male's one), auscultating the heart valves (like how the docs always check ur chest and ask u to breathe in) and feeling for pulses on the wrist, and legs. And apparently, i couldnt find the artery behind my knee, which is perfectly normal. And neither can the tutor or i find the artery at my ankle (aka posterior tibial artery). Probably the artery is hidden too deep inside. So yeah, clinicals were more happening this time around, with taking more focused history and listening to heart murmurs in patients although i cant really pick out the murmurs.

That was my summary of all that i have learnt the past 8 weeks.

Now onto something fun.. It was play time after the paper today!!

You know the typical things that you will do after the exam: eat a good lunch, watch movie, shop around at orchard or any other places equivalent. AFter our paper, christie, oi, beat, jieyu and i walked up to the asian supermkt near our place, intending to buy the ingredients meant for making MOONCAKE! But there wasnt any ingredients so we gave up, bought lunch and walked back to our place. Mo lai mo qu for a while before heading to the city, intending to do some shopping.

And boy, we did shop. First it was FRUITS shopping and paddy's mkt and then it was GROCERY shopping at the level above. Went to this huge asian supermt cos jieyu wanted to buy chilli powder to make kimchi. And then all of us starting going crazy. Found the red bean paste, melon seeds etc for mooncake making. Beat bought her tea leaves (never seen a person being so happy just by seeing alot of tea leaves) and i bought soya bean drink!! hoho.. havent drank that in the longest time ever. We were commenting that we are so auntie, do grocery shopping after an exam.

And of course we did do real shopping. Oi had a good buy of paying 5 bucks for a pair of high cut sneakers. And i bought new pumps and shorts for 5 bucks each.Muahaha. Oh crap.. i forgot to check out the price of havianas there. nvm.. will source for cheap havianas the next time.

Then it was onto korean bbq dinner. The food was good and relatively cheap. But the service was BAD. We made reservations at 7 for 10 pple. And we were late for 15 mins. We ordered for 5 of us for 1 table cos the rest were late. And then the supervisor or whatever he is came over and asked if our other frens were coming because it was wrong of us to not have full attendance and expected them to hold the table for us when there are 40 pple waiting outside.

Firstly, it was wrong of him to raise his voice at us. That is really bad service.
There wasnt any sign that said that there must be full attendance at the table. Hello, we are paying customers. There isnt anything wrong of us to be late when we would order stuff eventually.
The big BS about 40 pple waiting? puleeze.That was a big fat lie. When we came in, there was probably 10 pple waiting outside.

So even if the food was cheap and we ate until we were v full, we wont ever go there again.

Oh and we drank soju. It didnt taste as nice as the one i had with san. But i went totally red after the 1st small glass. And had another 2 after. The redness on my face is totally hilarious. I guess christie is gonna post the photos up on facebook. And for the umpteenth time, doesnt imply that my face goes really red means that im drun. I could still walk in a straight line.
