We watched 2 really interesting videos in tutorial today: vaginal delivery (VD) and cesarean section (CS) , and boy, were they graphic!

As we watched the mother getting the first contractions to the vagina being dilated and seeing the head of the baby through the tiny hole every now and then cos of the dilation of the muscles, there were oohs, ewws, ahhs, coming from us. Basically all the girls were having pained looks on our faces, including me. That small little hole can actually expand till so big! wonders of wonders. There was even 1 part when only the head came out and stayed there for like 30 secs as the doc slowly turned the baby so that the shoulder can be in line with the pelvis. And the scene is weird cos the head was there (with the baby's eyes closed) , in between the legs. And then with one more push, the body literally SLIPPED out, with all the blood and amniotic fliud. The fluid from the mouth came out and the eyes opened, with the baby wailing.

It was my first time actually seeing a fresh placenta. didnt noe it was THAT HUGE!!! sheesh. and the way the nurse pulled it out through the vagina via the umbilical cord was rather interesting. Cos she turned and twisted until the whole blob dropped out! Like a whole mesh of coagulated blood

The girls were saying that they never want to give birth, or even have a surrogate!!! But that is kinda extreme. So it is probably better to have a VD and a epidural anesthesia at the same time. Think that was what my mom had.

I was then wondering how my mum gave birth to not only me, but my other sisters too. And i was really thankful that she did. Had a sudden urge at that time to call my mum to say i love u and thank you but that was impossible cos i was still having school and then i got distracted when i got home. oh wells.. longer chats during weekend then (:

C section wasnt as bad, i think. Maybe cos we couldnt really feel the pain the mother was in. I mean, how to when u are having a local anesthsia. Just that the way the docs did the incision and later TUGGED at the area to open the hole wider so that baby can be pulled out.

This course had made me realise that it is so difficult to be a female, what with all the hormones regulating here and there, before this phase and that, and the various body changes that occur before, during, after fertile periods and again during pregnancy and delivery. Sheesh. No wonder men say women are complicated creatures. Cant deny it cos the PHYSIOLOGICAL changes that are happening are complicated by itself.

Let's see what i have been up to the past week: school, home, school home. Yeah, that's basically it. Ask me how's life and my answer will be a single word: study. All day. Just to keep up with the lectures(for understanding only, havent even started the memorising part yet) I guess what ever i have read will soon be forgotten.

And perhaps my only enjoyment is to go to the supermarket. Buying food, or anything from coles for the matter, makes me happy. Although the thought of lugging the stuff back is kinda sian. That's why making the guys with a car from the other unit go do grocery on sat evening is good: having a car is good and prices of meat gets slashed half price. that totally got me excited yesterday because of the half price!! Whee! Bought 5 plates of different kinds of meat and a WHOLE chicken because they were all half price. It totally looked like i was preparing to go to war. And the even more hilarious thing is that i bought so much stuff which is worth $42 and i only had $30 in the 'money bank' which is shared between jieyu and i. So i had to ask khoon to pay first.. hoho.. luckily they were there, otherwise i will have to throw face alr.

And suddeny, i miss home and my family. sighs.. it's the stress that's getting to me. i need to go run more often at centennial park.

Palm beach photos taken last tue!! I MISS PLAYING. now it's continuous intense mugging time for 8 weeks..

took the ferry from circular quay to manly wharf.

took a detour to manly beach

we are getting better at coming up with formations for jumping shots.

this is a negatie example of what we wanted.

now this is waaayyy nicer and better. someone said it looks like the matrix with charlie angels coming down. hehe.

on top of some rock like thingy

and after 2 buses from manly wharf and one hr plus of bus, we finally reached palm beach. There was almost no one there, unlike the other beaches cos it is too far up north and accessibility isnt really good. ulu beach

beat, oi and me being crazy as ever and loving cam whoring (:

12 of us!! 6 guys and 6 gals! everytime we wanna head off to somewhere, we will always have head count. so cute. like on a tour grp(:

we were waiting for the sun to set from 4 (sun sets at 530) and the guys found a really brilliant way of taking nice photos. using a brown sunglass and set it against the cam lenses. ALL of us took individual photos. nice emo photos with some of them looking like magazine shoots pics.

sunset. pretty ya. taken using my sunglass. that's why it's red.. haha

the ACTUAL colour of the sunset

taking last few photos before the sun disappears.

mulwaree gang vs.....
others (ie. non-mulwaree such as college pple and those living outside)

taking the ferry back. oi and i sat in front IN THE COLD. we were trying to get warmth by moving constantly to fast music we were hearing from mp3. hilarious things we do in the cold. oh and seagulls were literally flying beside the ferry and there were SO MANY STARS!! how cool is that.. literally and figuratively.

harbour bridge at night

sydney opera hse at night. so pretty(:

The past week was really really good. Let's start from mon.

It was our 1 hour 10 mcq 2 short answered question exam paper which was held at the lecture theatre and all the sutdents were sitting together. The thing is, it felt like SPA all over again. Because the question got leaked out, we prepared for the answer and when we saw the question, all the singaporeans were grinning away. The story is that one of us had a senior who was a tutor who gave the short ans qns to him. The first qns was exactly the same while the 2nd one was slightly modified. And of course, we did the mcq by ourselves. Then it was self marked and all of us passed and scored pretty well (:

Then it was chilling out session time!! First it was lunch at some small indo place then onto shalom college to play table tennis but of course i was sitting in front of the free cable tv watching 'whose line is it anyway'. it was totally hilarious and i was super happy, considering that im tv deprived for the longest time ever. And after that it was more hanging out time at beat's place playing wii, mahjong, cards, watching movies, listening to music and of course cooking dinner. Although we had late dinner at 915 (cos we were snacking on junk since the afternoon) the meal was really nice with 20 chicken drumsticks and wings for 8 pple, with brocolli, fish finger and bacon scramble egg. yumyum!! happy happy!!

And then tue was even more exciting (: it was a trip to palm beach, the furthest point of northern sydney and the point where public transport. Time taken to travel there was no joke. it was bus ferry bus bus. But riding on the ferry was super fun. And considering that when we came back on the ferry was at abt 6pm and it was abt 10 degrees or so, with the wind blowing at us cos we took the front seats outside the ferry, we were totally frozen. But we sat out in the cold for 30 mins just to look at the pretty stars and to catch the opera hse at night. So if we could have survived that cold, we can survive the coldest winter that is to hit sydney. And believe it or not, i actually was so auntie as to rush to the front seats to chop for the other 12 pple and made an ang mor move to the back when his initial intention was to sit in front.. oh wells.. Loads of pics taken there but have to wait till i grab them from jordan, who has the best cam ard and has ALLL the photos. he prolly used up his 2nd memory card.

And then on wed, it was my first time waking up at 12 here before heading to the city for.....KARAOKE!!!! yes there is karaoke here! and the price is decent! 10 bucks for 6 hrs of singing but no drinks though. BYO. Unfortunately i had to leave early to head down to kevin's house for dinner. Oh but the dinner was awesome!! The standard is that of an italian restaurant. He can really cook! He makes his own salad dressing, BREAD(and i thot jieyu was the only person to make bread), pasta sauce, dessert which was pineapple bread pudding with custard!! faints.. was so full after that. And the dinner was meant as a small gathering with some singaporean (kevin's a malaysian) and a aussie fren, David, in our tutorial group who is leaving for the US to study science. Was quite close to him during tutorials cos we were in the same grp for the grp assignment.

That's us at kevin's place. From left: david, claudia, me, kevin, mingfei

prawn pasta that is tomato based with some white wine. superb!

salad with the dressing. garlic bread and the ingredients in the middle. the cups have white wine too(:

kevin with his freshly made pineapple bread pudding.

SO DELICIOUS!

ok then today was back to school for first aid course.. pretty crappy. made cheesecake with jieyu and it looks really nice. After baking it. i kinda ran off with the rest to head down to eastgardens (some shopping centre) to gai gai. But was really shagged after that. And here i am typing away.

More programs on fri and during the weekend. And then it is back to the books, mugging, and serious studying.
